| History: | She was not christened until just prior to her departure from Ryde pier on a ‘maiden voyage’ cruise to Alum Bay with the company’s directors and friends on board. Then Miss Batchelor, a grand-daughter of the company chairman, Mr. Yelf, ‘threw a bottle of wine at the cocked hat of His Royal Highness, exclaiming “Prosperity to the ‘Duke of Edinborough’!”.
